Battery B. Light Artillery ("Snow's") Like Battery A., Battery B. was originally a part of the Purnell Legion, and was organized in Baltimore and Pikesville, during September and October of 1861. After it's organization the battery was sent to the Eastern Shores of Maryland and Virginia. In the summer of 1862 the battery was assigned to the Army of the Potomac and participated in the Battle of New Bridge along the Chickahominy on June 5th, and Malvern Hill on July 1, 1862. Battery B. served on the Federal right with Battery A. during the Battle of Antietam, and the Battle of Fredericksburg. Battery B. was transfered to the Department of West Virginia in the Spring of 1863. In the Spring of 1864 the battery was attached to General Sigel's command and took part in the Battle of New Market on May 15 and the Battle of Piedmont on June 5, 1864. When General Hunter replaced Sigel, the battery marched with Hunter to Lynchburg and was engaged during the skirmishing there on June 18, as well as the rear guard action at Salem on June 21. The battery withdrew with Hunter into the West Virginia mountains and crossed with Hunter into the Ohio Valley, while General Early marched un-opposed into Maryland. The Battery lost during service 5 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 27 Enlisted men by disease. Total 32.
