Unit History
Battery D. Light Artillery Organized in Baltimore in November of 1864 for a period of three years. The battery served in the Washington defenses at Forts Tillinghast, Willard, Lyon, Ward, Richardson, Barnard, C.F. Smith and Whipple. The battery was mustered out of service June 24, 1865.
Organized at Baltimore, Md., February 29, 1864. Attached to 3rd Separate Brigade, 8th Army Corps, Middle Department, to June, 1864. 3rd Brigade, DeRussy's Division, 22nd Army Corps, Defenses of Washington, D.C., 4th Brigade, DeRussy's Division, 22nd Army Corps, to October, 1864. 3rd Brigade, DeRussy's Division, 22nd Army Corps, to February, 1865. 1st Brigade, DeRussy's Division, 22nd Army Corps, to June, 1865.
SERVICE.--Duty in the Defenses of Baltimore, Md., till June, 1864, and in the Defenses of Washington south of the Potomac. Stationed at Forts Tillinghast, Lyon, Willard, Richardson, Ward, Barnard, C. F. Smith and Whipple till June, 1865. Mustered out June 24, 1865.
